Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA) Acquires Legal Staffing Company Hire an Esquire

Acquisition facilitates strategic expansion of MLA’s technological capabilities and offerings to clients and candidates

Hanover, MD – January 5, 2023 – Major, Lindsey & Africa, the world’s leading legal search firm, has announced that it has completed its acquisition of Hire an Esquire, a Philadelphia-based tech-driven legal staffing organization. As a result of the acquisition, Major, Lindsey & Africa will incorporate into its operations Hire an Esquire’s proprietary online platform, which analyzes candidates’ profiles and experience to match them with interim and permanent career opportunities in line with their expertise and skillset. Along with the addition of technical and market expertise of the Hire an Esquire team, the acquisition will pave the way for the continued growth of MLA’s technology-based recruiting capabilities, further strengthening MLA’s value proposition to clients and its commitment to candidate care and development.

“In combination with MLA’s in-depth market knowledge and our global reach, joining forces with Hire an Esquire – and integrating their technology-based approach– further elevates our position as the comprehensive leader in the legal search industry,” said Kirsten Keegan Vasquez, Partner and Vice President of Law Firm Recruiting and Interim Legal Talent at MLA. “As the value of a technology-based approach in legal recruiting continues to increase, this acquisition represents an important step in MLA’s strategic growth plan.”

“From the perspective of individual lawyers and legal professionals, this will allow our candidates to better identify career opportunities that align with their experiences and strengths, and that ultimately set them up for a higher degree of success,” added Nesli Orhon, Executive Director of Interim Legal Talent at MLA.

Founded in 2011, HAE currently has 9 employees across four offices. All 9 professionals will join MLA.   The Hire an Esquire brand will be maintained in connection with the use of its proprietary technology-based approach to legal recruiting.  MLA and Hire an Esquire leadership continue to work closely together to streamline the transition process and integrate operations efficiently to the benefit of our clients and candidates.

“We are excited to be joining MLA and to be able to continue to build Hire an Esquire’s technology under the MLA brand,” said Julia Shapiro, CEO and Founder of Hire an Esquire. “MLA is the gold standard in legal recruiting, and together, we can truly spur innovation in the legal recruiting space, leveraging the power of technology to continue to grow our strategic partnerships with clients and connect them with top-notch candidates who can meet the specific needs of their organizations.”
